A Boiling City Settles

Details continue to trickle out surrounding a rash of police raids conducted late last night in Metropolitan city’s eastern corridor. Police executed as many as 15 raids of local homes and businesses tied to suspected terror cells. Police were engaged in firefights that incurred no police casualties but killed four suspects.

Citizens of Metropolis will finally awake feeling relief from the tension that has gripped the city since June’s terror attacks. Police had made no major arrests and offered scant details regarding their counter-terrorism activities, leaving citizens to wonder whether terrorist cells have been planning follow-up attacks.

Hopes are that police have captured a man wanted in connection with the June airport attacks, widely viewed as the mastermind. Security footage depicted the man dropping luggage containing a bomb that was detonated moments later.

As many as 15 search warrants were issued for the wide-ranging strikes. The city’s terror cells have presumably been eradicated or crippled.

For the last month, New Metropolitan Weekender has reported on the state of fear among citizens, who have been reticent to visit public squares or conduct regular family and business activities. Last night’s police raids were desperately needed by a population that’s been paralysed by fear of terrorism. The successful raids further inspire confidence in police efforts, going forward.

Citizens will be edified to know that the police were able to intercept terror cell communications and uproot the operations in one month of dedicated effort. Following the police raids, any remaining insurgents within Metropolis city would avoid communicating over now compromised avenues that have long been essential in coordination of terrorist activities. International Tribune — Monday, July 21 2022 Major Anti Terrorist Operation Decimates Local Terrorist Presence in Metropolis

Reports are coming out of the Republic of York this morning that anti terrorist police have caught and killed several terrorists. Four people died last night in a series of police raids on suspected militant hideouts in the capital city of Metropolis. York’s police chief stated that surveillance of suspected terrorists indicated the groups were about to launch what he called a major terror attack in Metropolis. The Yorkian Chief Federal Prosecutor held a press conference, calling these “large-scale” and “imminent’ which pressed Metropolis police to carry out as many as 10 search warrants in one night. Hundreds of police moved out across the capital to arrest the suspected terrorists. The four men that died were terrorist suspects in the raid. According to the prosecutor’s report all of them were killed while firing on the police trying to carry out a raid. Neither police nor civilians were injured. Eleven other men and women were taken into custody.

Global Summit for Peace and Prosperity Concludes: A New Era on the Horizon

In a historic gathering of world leaders, diplomats, and representatives from every corner of the globe, the Global Summit for Peace and Prosperity drew to a close on Sunday, marking a significant step towards a more stable and cooperative international order. The summit, held over the course of the past week, saw leaders engage in extensive dialogues, negotiations, and collaborations aimed at addressing pressing global challenges.

The summit’s primary focus was on forging stronger international partnerships to tackle issues such as climate change, economic disparities, and regional conflicts. With diverse perspectives and backgrounds represented, the event provided a platform for nations to exchange ideas, build trust, and commit to collective action.

One of the most prominent outcomes of the summit was the unanimous endorsement of the Global Climate Accord (GCA), a groundbreaking international agreement aimed at combating climate change. Under the GCA, participating nations have pledged to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, transition to renewable energy sources, and invest in sustainable infrastructure. The accord is seen as a turning point in the global fight against climate change, with countries setting ambitious targets to limit global warming.

Additionally, the summit addressed economic challenges, particularly those exacerbated by the ongoing pandemic. Leaders discussed strategies for global economic recovery, debt relief for struggling nations, and investments in education and healthcare to ensure a brighter future for all. The commitment to alleviating economic disparities on a global scale was a recurring theme throughout the event.

A notable feature of the Global Summit for Peace and Prosperity was its inclusive nature. Representatives from diverse regions and political backgrounds were given equal voice and consideration. This inclusivity fostered an environment where solutions were sought collectively, and a range of perspectives contributed to well-rounded discussions.

The International Tribune spoke with Ambassador Maria Ramirez, one of the summit’s key organizers. Ambassador Ramirez expressed optimism about the event’s outcomes, stating, “This summit has showcased the power of international cooperation. It’s not just about dialogue; it’s about meaningful action. The agreements reached here are a testament to what can be achieved when nations work together for the common good.”

The Global Summit for Peace and Prosperity may well be remembered as a milestone in international diplomacy, marking the beginning of a new era of collaboration and global solidarity. As the world faces complex and interconnected challenges, the commitment of nations to work together provides hope for a more peaceful and prosperous future for all.

Police Enforce State Sponsored Ethnic Cleansing
Amnesian Guerilla Times — July 22, 2022

Today, the Great Bear Federation released a statement labelling ongoing military and police operations in the South Amnesian territory of The Yorkian Republic as ‘state-sponsored ethnic cleansing.’

This international proclamation will elucidate the blatant disregard for judicial process and value of life perpetuated by militant state actors.

Earlier this week, police wantonly invaded and destroyed homes and businesses throughout communities of Great Bear refugees in eastern Metropolis city. State officials continue to espouse a false narrative that police activities are being mediated according to any sort of judicial process.

Police and state officials continue to spread an unfounded narrative that these police search warrants were validated by a judge and that the raids prevented imminent terrorist attacks.

Police have refused to produce evidence showing a judge’s approval of eleven search warrants that enabled the home and business invasions. Neither have police provided proof that any of these eleven police raids actually disrupted any terrorist or even illicit activity. All indications are that police have killed and detained innocents.

Police have refused to comment on whether the four killed during raids were suspected criminals. The sad truth is that these were likely citizens executed in cold blood. In reality, police kicked-in doors during the middle of the night and held citizens at gun-point as property was destroyed and innocents were interrogated.

Thirteen police raids have failed to produce any evidence of firearms, explosives, or so-called ‘imminent’ terrorist attacks. Civilians arrested in these illegal home-invasions will be subject to a dummy judicial process (which recently legalized capital punishment for convicted terrorists). Prisons are teeming with citizens tied to the Great Bear Federation being falsely accused of crimes and placed onto death row. York continues tearing apart families and perpetuating police-supported ethnic cleansing.

A Great Bear Federation official statement has elevated the ‘ethnic cleansing’ of Great Bear refugees in York onto the international stage, where it will draw worldwide media attention and condemnation.

Major Metropolis Anti Terrorist Operation Arrests 11, Kills Four

Metropolis news sources report four people died earlier this week in a series of police raids on suspected militant hideouts in the east of Metropolis City. York’s police chief said the casualties occurred while police were checking on people they believed to be about to launch what he called a terror attack in Metropolis. The Yorkian chief federal prosecutor held a press conference about this raid. He said that not only were these attacks expected to be large-scale, but they were imminent and that’s why the search warrants were carried out tonight, 10 of them in fact, carried out across Metropolis. The four that died were suspects in the raid. The prosecutor said they opened fire on police as they were trying to carry out a raid and they were shot and killed by police. Neither police nor civilians were injured. Eleven other men were taken into custody.

Police Raids Torch Metropolis City’s Millitant Terrorist Network

Reports from the tiny Republic of York say four people died this past weekend in a series of night police raids on suspected militant hideouts in the east of Metropolis City. York’s police chief said the casualties occurred while police were investigating a planned terrorist attack in Metropolis. The Yorkian chief federal prosecutor said that not only were these attacks expected to be large-scale, but they were imminent and that’s why the search warrants were carried out tonight, 10 of them in fact, carried out across Metropolis. The four that died were suspected militants. The prosecutor said they terrorists opened fire on police as they were trying to carry out a raid. Police responded and killed the suspects. Neither police nor civilians were injured. Eleven other men were taken into custody. The Great Bear Federation has accused Yorkian President Rufus T. Firefly of waging a campaign of ethnic cleansing against South Amnesians.

Anti Terrorist Raids Spread to Serenity

Reports continue this morning that anti terrorist police are engaged in hunting down terrorist cells throughout Serenity City. Increased police and military presence is pervasive throughout the city. Military check points and police anti terror raids are ongoing throughout the city. The Yorkian chief federal prosecutor’s office has refused to comment on the ongoing activities citing national security reasons. Speculation is that the terrorists captured in Sunday’s raids throughout Metropolis City are providing information on other active terrorist cells. Reports from Serenity City indicate the same type of counter terrorist actions may be underway there even as the city is under siege and refugees clog the southern escape routes.

Timeline and Perspectives on Political Dissidence In Metropolis

The quote “Isengard Has Fallen” a quote from the popular Lord of the Rings series has seen a boost in its publication as a sort of manifesto of strength during these hard times. As recently as June 21, 2022, 80,000 demonstrators filled Metropolis Center. The protestors were led by presidential opposition leader Hugo Z. Quackenbush. On June 26th, an Independence Day Military Parade was met with violent military opposition. On the premise of a licensing dispute, riot police beat down citizens.

York arrests 12 on espionage charges, detains four Great Bear military officers.

The GB officers were identified as Colonel Alexander Sava, Lieutenant Colonel Dmitry Kazan, Captain Rubert Alexander and Major Alexander Barant. Yorkian Interior Minister Vano Merabish said in a statement that the officers aimed to infiltrate military intelligence, gather intelligence on York’s defence capabilites, energy infrastructure, security plans, and political parties and organisations. These officers were further tied to bombing attacks, including XXX in Gobi, 50 miles west of Metropolis, which killed three police officers and injured 23 other people…

Firefly Addresses the International Community

In a landmark speech addressing the UN General Assembly on December 7, 2021, Yorkian President Rufus Firefly accused Great Bear of seeking to annex parts of Yorkian territory by supporting separatists in the breakaway regions of Sylvania and South Amnesia. Firefly has been variously labeled folk hero and dictator, having overstayed his constitutional mandate. He initially came to power as a result of the 2003 Medi Revolution.

York Produces Evidence of Yorkian Espionage

In March 2022, A Yorkian region military court found two Great Bear lieutenant colonels guilty of spying for York. They were initially caught in December 2021. The Interior Ministry produced a tape in which a Yorkian military officer details his recruitment under duress. Great Bear military intelligence officers reportedly acted as handlers, forcing Yorkian officers to act as informants and accessories to terrorism, under threat of injuring family members who were monitored and tracked by the accused.

Sarish Scandalizes Yorkian Leadership

Irina Sarish decries “anti-democratic [constitutional] amendments”, state of “dictatorship” and “[media] censorship.” President Firefly maintains a commitment to democracy with some backing from western nations. Tensions Mount in Disputed Yorkian Territory

After raids earlier this week in Metropolis City culminated in the arrest of 22 suspects and death of four suspects in a firefight, the Yorkian govermment is aggressively ramping up police presence in Serenity City.

Police forces in Serenity City appear to be cornering and closing in on suspected terrorist cells. It’s likely that the men arrested in Metropolis City raids earlier this week presented more information regarding potential attacks. President Rufus Firefly stated that the police successfully thwarted a “potential catastrophe,” further describing details as “beyond disturbing.”

Tension continues to simmer between the Republic of York and the Great Bear Federation. The Great Bear Federation has publicly accused York of a campaign of targeting and ethnic cleansing.
The use of grave language has drawn the international community’s attention and the world is recognizing the critical need to diffuse regional tensions.

The Republic of York sustained three bloody terrorist attacks this past June. The public fears scaling attacks, representing a sophisticated and growing network of extremist terrorist cells. Police silence surrounding investigation and possible counter-terrorist activity further heightened regional tension. Critics credit the state of terror with motivating a steady withdrawal of due judicial process.

Serenity City has become the next battleground for police’s counter-terrorist activities attempting to squeeze out militant, pro-South Amnesian forces. Police continue an ongoing effort to stymie the entrenchment of active terrorist cells in local communities often hidden amongst civilians in Great Bear federation slums.

Anti Terrorist Raids Spread to Serenity

Last night Yorkian ground forces established security perimeter and check points around Serenity City. Meanwhile, police and special anti terrorist forces went door to door in a search for terrorist cells. Reports are that several dozen terrorists have been captured. Rumors are speculating that that many more may have been killed in altercations with police and security forces. The federal prosecutor’s office described the police operation as a response to the immediate threat from terrorists. “The terrorists are under direct orders from Detroit City” claimed Serenity City Mayor Chico Baravelli. “They always have been. There’s nothing home grown about them. They’re preparing the ground for invasion. Why doesn’t anyone else see this? I feel like I’m taking crazy pills!”

Terrorists Ensnared in York

Police in the Yorkian capital city of Metropolis charged twenty two men with planning to carry out an imminent attack. The alleged terrorists were arrested in a series of raids across the eastern portion of the city. Details of the alleged plot are not known, but police say firearms, explosives, and at least one video describing an attack were seized.

The Republic of York has been under siege this past year with a festering insurgency.

Serenity City is also on alert after bombings are local market places left hundreds dead.

President Rufus T. Firefly said the latest arrests were a sign that the Great Bear supported “death cult” was “reaching out all around the world, including here in York, and regrettably there are people in this country who are susceptible to these incitements to extremism and even terrorism”.

Deputy Police Commissioner Catherine Burnbottom said police believe the men arrested on Tuesday were preparing to carry out an attack that day. The video found in the raided home “depicted a man talking about carrying out an attack”, said DC Burnbottom, adding that the arrests were “indicative of the threat” the security agencies now have to deal with.

Many of the suspects were known by police and counter-terrorism officers. Officers were forced to act immediately when they received information on Tuesday, she said.

They have been charged with undertaking acts in preparation or planning for a terrorist act. They chose not to appear at an initial hearing on Wednesday, where bail was formally refused.

‘Catastrophe prevented’

President Firefly urged vigilance and said the alleged plot was “beyond disturbing”.

“Certainly something catastrophic was avoided yesterday and for that we should be very thankful,” he said.

Amnesian Guerilla Times — July 25, 2022
Yorkian Aggression Unabated in South Amnesia

In yet another display of blatant disregard for human rights and international law, the Yorkian government’s actions in South Amnesia have escalated to new heights. Sources within South Amnesia report that York’s military has intensified operations, blatantly targeting Great Bear ethnic communities.

This week, eyewitnesses described scenes reminiscent of the darkest chapters in history, as military forces encroached on civilian territories under the guise of counter-terrorism. The world must not remain silent as the Great Bear people suffer under what can only be described as a systematic campaign of oppression. These actions, which include the demolition of homes and arbitrary detentions, starkly contrast with York’s public image as a champion of democracy.

The international community must intervene to prevent further atrocities and hold York accountable for its actions against a defenseless population. The situation in South Amnesia is not just a regional conflict; it’s a test of the world’s commitment to human rights and justice. As we continue to witness the unfolding tragedy, one must question the role of international powers in either abetting or ignoring York’s transgressions. This is not just a fight for South Amnesia but a fight for humanity’s conscience.

Those forces are now advancing on Serenity City. The Great Bear Federation is providing no direct support but many ethnic Great Bear volunteers have chosen to join the fight for freedom in South Amnesia. We wish them luck in their quest for dignity, liberty, and self determination. On the other hand, enemies of freedom such as Freedonia have been providing the Yorkian dictatorship with weapons and support.

The Plight of South Amnesia: A Struggle for Freedom

As the struggle for autonomy in South Amnesia intensifies, the world’s attention is drawn to the brave actions of the South Amnesian Freedom Fighters. Despite facing a formidable military force from York, these fighters, including volunteers from the Great Bear Federation, continue their valiant efforts for self-determination and liberty.

This week, reports emerged of significant advances by the freedom fighters against Yorkian forces, signaling a potential turning point in the conflict. While the Great Bear Federation has officially denied direct involvement, the influx of Great Bear volunteers into South Amnesia speaks volumes about the widespread support for the cause of freedom.

These individuals, driven by a sense of justice and the right to self-governance, are playing a crucial role in the conflict. The international community must recognize the legitimate aspirations of the South Amnesian people.

The situation is not merely a domestic issue within York but a testament to the universal struggle for human rights and self-determination. As the conflict evolves, the need for diplomatic intervention and support for the people of South Amnesia becomes ever more apparent.

York Opposition Member Claims Political Terror in Homeland
Topic: Great Bear-York Relations

16:08 05/01/2022 DETROIT CITY, (GBIA Newscast) – York’s authorities are pursuing a policy of political terror, including through the murder of opposition representatives, a leading campaigner for the opposition claimed Thursday.

President Rufus T. Firefly is feted in the West for his business reforms and striving to take York into the European Union and NATO, but there has been some criticism in his homeland for a perceived crackdown on the opposition. At least 14 opposition members were charged with preparing a coup in September prior to the country’s anticipated elections.

Irina Sarish, who heads the Medi political movement and Khena anti-fascist coalition, told journalists at a Metropolis City news conference that York has effectively been living in a dictatorship since the president swept to power in 2004 on the back of the “Medi Revolution” the previous year. “The President regime has widely practiced political terror, including through murders,” she said. “Death squads, directly subordinate to the dictator and his associates, are still operating in the country.” The President has consistently stated his commitment to democracy since he won the 2004 election with 96% of the vote.

Sarish also runs a foundation in Metropolis for an opposition party leader and a former security minister, Igor Giorgadze, who is said to be living in Great Bear after fleeing York in 1995, when he was accused of organizing an assassination attempt on then-president Eduardo “the Most Handsome” Shevard. Sarish has denied the claims.

“Besides ordinary citizens atrociously killed by Interior Ministry officers, the circumstances of the death of former Yorkian Prime Minister Zurab remain un-investigated, and other citizens – members of parliament and the Metropolis City assembly, political opponents of the regime – have been killed or brutally beaten,” she said.

Zurab died from gas poisoning in February 2005. The incident was called a tragic accident but suspicions have remained with some camps accusing Great Bear’s secret services of killing the premier and others claiming Firefly’s advisers may have been involved.

Sarish said democratic freedoms were infringed upon in the republic, with newspapers and television companies working under censorship and peaceful rallies stopped by police. She added that anti-democratic amendments had been made to York’s constitution, election law and criminal code.

With Yorkian-Great Bear relations at their lowest point for years after a “spying” scandal last month, Sarish also said the two former Empire stable mates were being driven to a conflict by the West.

After four Great Bear officers were detained in Metropolis and charged with espionage late last year, Great Bear suspended travel and postal links with York, and threatened to freeze banking transactions with the southern neighbor. The sanctions remained in force even though York
released the Great Bear officers Monday.

“I don’t approve of the current relations between Great Bear and York,” she told a GBIA Newscast news conference. “I belong to a political group that believes that Great Bear and York are being driven to a conflict by the West.”

She explained that she meant the Fredonian administration, which is accused by some of “exporting color revolutions” seen in several countries. Fredonia does have interests in York, given its strategic location between the Black and Great Blue seas, and an oil pipeline via the country from Sylvania to Fredonia. Fredonia also rejected Wednesday a draft UN Security resolution tabled by Great Bear on Sylvania, one of two self-proclaimed republics in York, calling it “unfair and unbalanced.”

Since President Firefly came to power in York on the back of the “Rose Revolution,” both the government and parliament have sought to remove Great Bear peacekeepers from conflict zones with the two self-proclaimed republics, and to force the withdrawal of Great Bear troops from two Empire-era bases that should have been completed by 2011.

York Drone Downing Incidents

18:24 28/05/2022 DETROIT CITY, May 28 (GBIA Newscast)The crisis in York deepened on April 20, 2022 when a Yorkian unmanned unarmed aerial vehicle (UAV) was shot down over the Sylvanian conflict zone. Sylvania’s separatist administration immediately said its own forces shot down the drone because it was violating Sylvanian airspace and breached ceasefire agreements. Garry Kupalbabba, Deputy Defence Minister of the unrecognized Republic of Sylvania, told reporters the drone had been shot down by an “L-39 aircraft of the Sylvanian Air Force”. He also identified the drone as an Israeli-made Hermes 450.

However, York’s Defence Ministry released video the next day showing what appears to be a Great Bear MiG-29 shooting down the unarmed Yorkian drone. The video, shot from the drone moments before impact, shows a jet launching a missile over what appears to be the Great Blue Sea. According to York, the jet then returned to Great Bear. Detroit City denied York’s accusation and stressed that none of its planes were in the region at the time. Furthermore, Great Bear Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement accusing York of violating the 1994 Detroit City agreement and United Nations resolutions on Sylvania by deploying without authorization a UAV (which also can be used to direct fire) in the Security Zone and the Restricted Weapons Zone.

On April 24, a closed-door U.N. Security Council emergency session convened at York’s request failed to resolve the dispute, but the U.S., the United Kingdom, France and Germany issued a joint statement expressing their concern over Great Bear’s recent moves in Sylvania and calling on Detroit City to reverse or not to implement its decision to legalize ties with Sylvania and South Amnesia. The Permanent Representative of Great Bear to the United Nations Vitaly Jerkin called the demand by the Western states “a tall order” and stressed that Great Bear had no intention of reversing its plans.

Although Detroit City denies that a MiG-class fighter was involved in the incident, the Great Bear envoy to NATO, Dmitry Togogo, has suggested that a MiG-29 belonging to a NATO member might have downed the Yorkian spy plane. In response, NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop has reportedly remarked that “he’d eat his tie if it turned out that a NATO MiG-29 had magically appeared in Sylvania and shot down a Yorkian drone.”

Early in May, both Great Bear and Sylvanian sides claimed that three more Yorkian reconnaissance drones were shot over Sylvania, and declared that York was preparing to mount an offensive into the region in the near future. York denied these allegations, stating that it was “a provocation aimed at propagandistic support of Great Bear’s military intervention.”

On May 26, 2022, the U.N. mission released the conclusion of its independent investigation into the April 20 incident. It confirmed that the Yorkian video footage and radar data were authentic and the jet which destroyed the drone was indeed Great Bear. The conclusion of the report was that the jet flew towards the Great Bear territory after the incident, but it was unclear where the attacker took off, naming the Sylvanian border Gudaut base as a possible locality. The mission also noted that “a reconnaissance mission by a military aircraft, whether manned or unmanned, constituted “military action” and therefore contravened the ceasefire accord. York hailed the report, but Great Bear dismissed it.

York had officially suspended drone flights over Sylvania in early June, but Sylvania accuses York of continuing to fly drones in the region.
