Defense Intelligence Fusion Centre

The Defense Intelligence Fusion Centre (DIFC) is a Defense Ministry sponsored, inter-agency organisation. Located in the Island Nation, Capital City. The DIFC became fully operational in December 2007. The DIFC comprises over 200 military and civilian intelligence and support professionals.  Personnel include significant representation from allied nations. The DIFC falls under the operational command of the Minister of Defence through his Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence.

Mission

Support national security policy formulation and national and allied command operations by providing intelligence to warn of potential crisis and to support the planning and execution of military and security operations; to include direct intelligence support to Special Operations Forces.

Commander’s Vision

A professional, adaptable, technologically competent and operationally focused intelligence organisation, delivering timely, relevant products to enhance the nation’s situational awareness and increase military operational effectiveness. All source intelligence fusion is underpinned by our commitment to training and professional development to maintain the highest standards of analytic tradecraft. Collaboration and innovation is the hallmark of this diverse, experienced workforce.

DIFC was created to facilitate the sharing and fusion of intelligence, contribute to filling intelligence gaps and to support the planning and execution of current operations. Whether forward deployed or providing reach-back for deployed Island Nation forces, DIFC analysts collaborate with a wide range of partners to produce intelligence assessments to enhance situational awareness. The DIFC is manned 24 hours per day, 7 days a week and supports allied operations across three continents.

The DIFC has an experienced, culturally diverse workforce who are able to support decision making for senior leaders through well informed, insightful analysis. The DIFC provides a unique environment where participating nations join forces to fuse intelligence in direct support of military operations. Additionally, many of DIFC’s assessments have been made available to military planners from the Allied Union and Partnership for Peace.

The DIFC strives to encourage analytic collaboration to the maximum extent possible. Working directly with national analytic centres, academia, think tanks and relevant international and private organisations, the DIFC aims to develop a deep understanding of key intelligence issues that affect deployed forces and national security decision makers on a day to day basis. The DIFC uses classified and the best open source information available to give operational forces the most accurate and timely intelligence support available.
